Moments in life

There are moments in life where you feel like you are drowning

Moments in life where you feel the negative energy all around you

Moments in life where some people try to break every positive spirit in you. Shred you in pieces like shredding cheese. Bit by bit, piece by piece in slow motion.

Moments in life where some people watch every step, every word, every vibration.

Moments in life where all you want is fresh air, fresh visions, fresh walks, fresh talks, fresh environment that brings light.

Moments in life where all I need is music, comida,  my family, my community and things that are real. Things that are real because I was raised by a community of hard workers because nothing was given to you. “Work hard and everything will be ok” was said by my family and my community not realizing that there are many pitfalls that come along the way.

The main pitfill is people's view of you and what you do and don’t do.

Bias - How people view you because of the way that you walk, talk, dress, your age, your race, your lifestyle and for just being you.

This brings lack of opportunity. Doors closed because of your bias.

Latina. Dominicana. Born and raised in South Providence.

Music. Food. Family working long hours. Family events. Community. Bilingual.

Diverse group of people around me.

Most importantly family always comes first.

Cardi B might not be your favorite but she keeps it real. Lean back if you have to like Fat Joe to look at things from a different perspective. Vivir mi vida like Marc Anthony because we only live once. Vamos pa la playa to feel the fresh air and hear the sound of the ocean. I said no to the superbowl... you don't need me and I don't need you like Jay-Z. Sometimes I might feel bad and bougee like Migos because I have an Empire State of Mind like Alicia Keys and Jay Z.  Let's make sure we Slay all day like Beyonce.

I was not born to feel little, feel powerless, feel worthless, feel oppressed.

If you don't know what I bring to the table you will never ever be invited to sit at my table.

My ancestors are watching over me.

We come from a strong community of powerful women that empower others.

My Grandmothers. Mi madre. Mi tías, mi hija, and many more.

I believe in myself.

I believe in self care

Generational trauma is real.

Society will try to break you.

Society of the oppressed.

History can never be erased.

How you treat others matters.

Bias is real.

Energy is real.

Advocacy. Acknowledgement. Opportunity. Respect. Trust. Energy.

Protect your energy.

Inspire others. Motivate others.

Motivate yourself.

I believe in myself.
